The streets were lined in shades of green across the island of Ireland where bother young and old of all nationalities participated.
The traditional vintage rally through the town started off from the annual parade in Downpatrick, County Down.Other major parades in Northern Ireland took place in Belfast and Londonderry which attracted huge crowds.
Irish President Michael D Higgins route of parade in Dublin had huge revelers gathering in and the President greeted the extended family across the world.
Higgins said that wherever you may be and in whatever circumstances, you are a part of the Ireland’s global family joining with us as they are celebrating the Irishness, its culture, heritage and history.
Marching bands from Ireland and aboard including the US and the Germany took part in the theme of Dublin’s parade which was story telling.Over several hours in the afternoon the participants made way from the Parnell Square across the Liffey to St Patrick’s Cathedral.
There were vibrant displays in Derry’s city centre, a blaze of colour during the city’s biggest ever St Patrick’s Day parade which was filled with Shipquay Street.
Despite the windy conditions more than 10,000 people lined the pavements and more than 700 performed from community, arts and sporting groups.
