NASA: Meteor Explosion 10 Times Size of Nuclear Bomb Detected\, Report

At the end of World War II, the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima contained about 15 kilotons of energy… the BBC reports.????But more recently an explosion 15 miles away from earth… contained over 10 times the energy of Hiroshima… 173 kilotons to be exact.????A NASA spokesperson tells the BBC on December 18th a massive asteroid exploded in the atmosphere above the surface of the earth… right above the Bering Sea near Russia.????And it apparently wasn’t noticed right away.

????NASA has its own defense program that specifically looks for large asteroids.

????In 2022, the agency plans to do an actual test… to try to reroute an asteroid headed for our planet.

????The NASA spokesperson also tells the BBC… ????“We have in our defence, there's plenty of water on the planet."????Several scientists are calling the event historic because it only happens a few times a century.??
