Four friends die in head-on collision between truck and car

KURUKSHETRA: At around 6.30am on Sunday, in a head-on collision between a truck and a car, near village Barshami on Ladwa-Yamunanagar road, four friends in the age group of 20-25 years have died. One of them with serious injuries is undergoing treatment at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh.
Three of the deceased were residents of Yamunanagar and one was from Delhi.
It is said that the victims were heading to Yamunanagar after meeting relatives at Pipli in Kurukshetra. The deceased have been identified as Yash Tandon, Shiv Kumar alias Sunny, Alim Ahmed Dar, residents of Hamida Colony in Yamunanagar and Rohit, a resident Rama Vihar in Delhi. Sunil Kumar, also a resident of Delhi, is undergoing treatment at PGI.
The police said that three had died on the spot. Alim Ahmed and Sunil were rushed to PGI, but Alim succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Ladwa station house officer, inspector Om Prakash said, “After the accident, the truck driver escaped from the spot. His vehicle has been taken into the custody. On the complaint of Farukh, a resident of Old Hamida in Yamunanagar, we have registered a case against unidentified accused truck driver under Section 279 (rash driving), 337(causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The details of the truck driver would be obtained from the owner and further action would be taken according to law.”
Investigation officer assistant sub-inspector Mool Chand said, “The postmortems of Yash, Shiv, and Rohit were conducted early Sunday at Kurukshetra and the postmortem of Alim late at night.”
