Supporters of Vamsi Krishna Yadav on Sunday ransacked the offices of the YSRCP here to register their protest against denial of Visakhapatnam East ticket to their leader.
Furious supporters broke the windowpanes and furniture at the offices near Dr. V.S. Krishna Government College and M.V.P. Double Road respectively, and raised slogans against party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. A few of them removed the party flags and put a lock to the two offices.
Police forces were deployed at the offices as tempers ran high among the supporters of Mr. Krishna Yadav. Kasi Yadav, branding himself as a die-hard supporter of Mr. Krishna Yadav, said their leader was serving the YSRCP from the beginning and the leadership ditched him in the last minute. Expecting his nomination, Mr. Krishna Yadav had launched campaign ahead of others, he added.
Sangeeta, another supporter, said they were confident of his victory this time as he had been nursing the constituency with his service activities such as supply of water tankers to the slums.
The Visakhapatnam East ticket was given to party coordinator in-charge of Bhimili affairs Vijaya Nirmala.
‘Muttamsetti fallout’
She was keen on contesting from Bhimili, but had to be shifted to accommodate the recent entrant, Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao (Avanti), sources said.
Mr. Krishna Yadav had lost the elections twice from Visakha East and was known for his failure to mobilise resources, the sources added.
Mr. Krishna Yadav had contested unsuccessfully against incumbent V. Ramakrishna Babu of the TDP in 2014 and on Praja Rajyam Party ticket in 2009.
