Cape Town - Pakistan Cricket on Monday paid tribute to former coach Bob Woolmer on the 11-year anniversary of his unexpected death.
In a moment that left the international cricketing community stunned, Woolmer was announced dead on March 18, 2007 during that year's Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.
Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room in Jamaica just hours after Pakistan had been unexpectedly knocked out of the tournament by Ireland.
Jamaican police immediately announced that a case of murder had been opened, but at the end of that year the investigation was dropped due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
Woolmer's death remains one of cricket's biggest mysteries.
On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) posted a simple message to its Twitter page paying tribute to Woolmer.
"Remembering Bob Woolmer, former head coach of Pakistan, on his 11th death anniversary," a tweet read.
Woolmer, who was 58 when he died, was also coach of the Proteas between 1996 and 199 and took them to two World Cups.
