Seoul strives for ending stalled nuclear negotiations between Washington and Pyongyang

South is trying to end the stalled talks between and on denuclearisation after the summit held between US and North Korean leader last month ended without an agreement.

On Monday, Seoul's Presidential issued a statement saying that the time was now right for the two Koreas to hold further talks, reports Morning Post.

"We agree with the view that no deal is better than a bad deal. However, in reality, it is difficult to achieve complete denuclearisation at one stroke," the statement quoted a as saying.

According to the statement, South wanted North to "agree with a broad road map aimed to achieve the overarching goal of denuclearization."

"On the basis of that, we should make further efforts to turn a small deal into a deal that is good enough. In order to achieve meaningful progress, we need one or two early harvests for mutual trust-building to move on toward the final goal," the statement further added.

In last month's summit Trump had informed the media that wanted the sanctions to be lifted in their entirety which could not be done. Hence, they had to walk away from it.

North Korea, however, contradicted this with the country's saying that they had made realistic proposals and asked for a partial lifting of sanctions. Following this, North had threatened the US of suspending all channels of communication and even restart its missile tests.
