LUCKNOW: Now, one won’t have to wait for long to get a dental implant done, with the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) using an advance technique — intraoral welding. The technique makes dental implant possible in just few hours.

On Sunday, a 65-year-old patient from Lucknow was implanted with teeth through the advanced technique, claimed to have been used for the first time in a government set-up in UP.

Till now, a patient had to wait for a minimum of three days to get all processes of an immediate dental implantation done. With the new technology and an Italian machine that KGMU sourced only three months back, the university has completed three implants through introral welding-.“The oral surgery department has purchased the machine for introral welding, with which we are doing implants effectively for one teeth and full mouth at the university itself. Now within a span of six to eight hours, we can do immediate implant,” said Dr Lakhsya Kumar of the dental department.

“The technique uses titanium implants cast in the patient’s mouth within hours. Now we are able to adapt the titanium wire, smoulder it and fabricate a teeth, on the same day,” he added.
