Talks between India and Pakistan on the Kartarpur corridor issue have been "very positive", said Dr Mohammad Faisal, Pakistan's foreign ministry spokesperson. He admitted that while there have been some differences on the proposed modalities of the corridor, they weren't too big or damaging to its future.

Ahead of proposed talks on April 2 at Wagah, he said, "(I) expect good things to come out of these talks. I hope to conclude the rounds of meetings between India and Pakistan on the Kartarpur Sahib corridor as soon as possible."

Pakistan is keen on facilitating the finalisation of the corridor, he said, adding that Islamabad has gone out of its way to accommodate people of India at the holy Sikh shrine. While refraining from answering if the ongoing talks mark resumption of dialogue between the two sides, he was quick to point out that Pakistan is ready for talks on all topics, including on terrorism. "The only way forward is through dialogue and conversation and understanding of issues.

However, any desire of Pakistan to begin talks with India shouldn't be taken as its weakness," he said.

On the issue of only a particular number of pilgrims being allowed from India to visit the shrine, he said negotiations are currently on, and he wasn't able to divulge details. Pakistan would give a memorable welcome to Indian guests on April 2 at Wagah, he added.
