THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has set up a screening committee so as to streamline various government matters and files to the Elections Commission, for seeking exemption under the model code of conduct and availing clearance from the commission.
The committee will be chaired by chief secretary Tom Jose, in which principal secretary (general administration department) Biswanath Sinha and the secretary of the department concerned, will be the members. The committee will meet every Monday and will take up various matters case by case.
Only those proposals cleared by the screening committee will be referred to the chief electoral officer along with full details of the subject and a note on urgency of the matter.
