TripAdvisor appoints Kanika Soni as the President of Hotels Business Unit

Kanika Soni will join TripAdvisor as president of the hotels business unit, with effect from April 15. In her new capacity, Soni will manage TripAdvisor’s hotels business, representing a substantial part of the company’s total revenue. She will be responsible for product, engineering, sales, and marketing for hotels.

Soni will report to Stephen Kaufer, TripAdvisor CEO and president, and will focus on building upon the company’s existing strategy to ensure TripAdvisor’s continued growth and profitability in a rapidly shifting, increasingly complex and competitive global landscape.

Most recently, Soni served as Senior Vice President, Global Ecommerce for Disney Consumer Products at the Walt Disney Company. In 2016, Soni took over Disney’s ecommerce unit and proceeded to quickly turn the business around to deliver sustained double-digit revenue and gross margin dollars growth. Prior to Disney, Soni led the Online and Global Digital Marketing team at Tesla Motors where she helped launch the Model 3, which had the biggest week of any product launch ever ($14B in implied future sales on 300K+ reservations). Soni has also had successful leadership roles at both Gilt Groupe and McKinsey & Company.
