Achievement survey in schools soon
TNN | Mar 19, 2019, 04:56 ISTCoimbatore: Under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, the school education department will conduct State Level Achievement Survey (SLAS) in government schools in the district. The survey would be conducted in the form of a test for classes IV, VII and IX, said Samagra Shiksha officials.
The main motive of the survey is to find the performance level of students. “Based on the survey results, we would devise schemes and programmes for students,” said an official.
Ten schools would be selected for classes IV and VII from each of the 15 blocks in the district and four schools would be selected to Class IX test from each block. Twenty students would be selected from classes IV and VII of each shortlisted school and 20 students from Class IX of each school in this category. The question paper, which would be in the OMR format, will have 75 questions from all subjects.
Last year, Coimbatore came second after Kanyakumari in a National Assessment Survey for Class IX students, said the official. “The test results will be processed quickly as the test is based on the OMR format and will give a comprehensive analysis of the level of students’ performance,” the official added.
Across the 32 districts in the state, which have 413 blocks, 4,130 schools would be selected to conduct the survey for classes IV and VII each and 1,648 schools would be chosen for Class IX. The test would be conducted on March 25, 26 and 28 and the OMR sheets would be processed from March 27 to March 31.
