
New Goa CM to Be Named Before Parrikar’s Funeral, Decision Shortly
Goa BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar said that the decision on the state's next chief minister will be taken by 2 pm on Monday, 18 March. The swearing-in ceremony would be held later in the day, after 3 pm reported PTI.
Late Goa CM Manohar Parrikar passed away on Sunday, 17 March, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer for a year. According to a CMO release, his last rites will be performed in Panaji today after the new CM is announced.
Meanwhile, Goa Congress leaders Girish Chodankar and Chandrakant Kavlekar have written to Governor Mridula Sinha, staking claim to form government.
The Centre has announced today as a day of national mourning, and Parrikar will be accorded a state funeral with full military honours.
