HYDERABAD: Next time you give your second-hand vehicle for a test drive to the buyer, think twice. A 21-year-old private driver was nabbed by Cyberabad police after they found that he had stolen secondhand vehicle from people who had posted an advertisement on OLX to sell it. The accused, on the pretence of taking the vehicle for a test drive, would take the vehicle and escape with it.
The accused, G Nagesh, a resident of Kothapalli area, was involved in several such cases. He stole two Bajaj Pulsar bikes and one Swift Dzire car, apart from at least four smartphones.
“The accused would scan advertisements on OLX and call the vehicle owners expressing interest in taking the vehicle for a test drive. In October last year, he stole a bike and on March 5 this year, he stole another bike,” said Shadnagar inspector, A Sreedhar Kumar.
Similarly, Nagesh had also stolen at least four secondhand smartphones. During interrogation, police found that he’d sold all four phones and had already spent the money.
After receiving several complaints, police identified the accused through CCTV footage and nabbed him on Saturday at Keshampeta area. Police have seized two bikes and a car and booked him for theft and cheating.
