Patwari alleges caste harassment, kills self

KOTA: A 26-year-old youth posted as patwari (revenue officer) at Laxmipura Halka patwar area under Talera police station of Bundi district on Saturday afternoon committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his rented room on Kota-Bundi bypass. On the bases of suicide note recovered from his possession, police have booked one person of Laxmipura village under sections of IPC and SC/ST Act for abetment of suicide.
The body was on Saturday evening handed over to the family members after postmortem. The deceased was identified as Ganesh Meena, a resident of Shambupuria village and was posted as patwari in Laxmipura Halka patwar area. He committed suicide around 4pm.
In the suicide note, he alleged that the father-in-law of Laxmipura sarpanch Chandra Prakesh, had harassed him in the name of caste and threatened him of dire consequences following which he sank into deep depression and was compelled to end his life, police said.
