Man jumps before speeding train, dies

Ludhiana: A 30-year-old factory worker committed suicide by jumping in front of a superfast train at the Baddowal railway crossing here on Saturday afternoon.

Investigating officer Gurjinder Singh said the deaceased, identified as Tulsi Ram, on Saturday jumped in front of an Amritsar-bound superfast train going towards Delhi at the Baddowal Kalan railway crossing. The body was crushed in the incident, he said.


Police said prime facie it seems that the factory worker took the drastic step due to the poor financial conditions of his household. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC, the police officer said.
