17 persons rounded up by city police in Rajasthan
tnn | Mar 18, 2019, 04:00 ISTNagpur: Pachpaoli police, with the help of their Rajasthan counterparts, intercepted three vehicles at Bijpur in Ajmer on Friday morning and arrested 17 persons ‘on suspicion’.
Irfan Bandookiya, alias Chachu, was among those nabbed along with his friend Narendra Kodape, who is a native of Gadchiroli.
Police said the operation was launched to intercept the group, which had gone for a pilgrimage at Ajmer, following a tip-off that gangster Ippa’s brothers Naushad and Irshad were present along with others.
Naushad and Irshad have been on the run since December 2017, when they had launched an attack on cops following which MCOCA was slapped on them.
The gang’s mastermind Ippa and his close aide Emmu Kaliya had surrendered before the court.
It was not clear till late evening on Sunday what actions cops were initiating against the 17 persons rounded up at Ajmer. Police personel are digging deep into the case to get more clues.
Around eight of the 17 have earlier crime records against them, said sources.
