Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is known for his raw acting prowess, was honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, from President Ram Nath Kovind at the ceremony held in Rashtrapati Bhawan on Saturday.
Not just Manoj, even his fellow celebrities celebrated his win by posting congratulatory tweets for the actor.
Anupam Kher, Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Randeep Hooda, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta, Adil Hussain, Sonu Sood, among many others took to their respective Twitter handles to post congratulatory messages for the actor.
Anupam congratulated the actor and wrote, "Congratulations dearest @BajpayeeManoj for this honour. I am sure this is just the beginning. Love and happiness always. Manoj Bajpayee receives Padma Shri from President Kovind."
Taapsee who has worked with Manoj in 'Naam Shabana' too posted a congratulatory tweet. She added a slew of emojis and wrote, "Mubarak ho sir !!!"
Bhumi, who recently starred alongside the actor in 'Sonchiriya' too posted a sweet message. She wrote, "Congratulations Sir...we've learnt so much from all your performances and more than that enjoyed watching them..more power to you."
Randeep also took to his Twitter handle to post a congratulatory message for the actor.
"Congratulations @BajpayeeManoj.. well deserved and more," he tweeted.
Manoj Bajpayee is best known for his phenomenal performances in films like 'Satya', 'Pinjar', 'Aligarh', 'Rajneeti', 'Sonchiraiya', 'Zubeidaa' and 'Gangs of Wasseypur' series.
The Padma Awards were presented in two ceremonies in New Delhi. On March 11, actor Mohanlal was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, actor-choreographer-director Prabhudeva received the Padma Shri and musician Shankar Mahadevan received the Padma Shri. Late actor Kader Khan, who passed away on December 31 last year, was awarded Padma Shri (posthumous).
This year's awardees comprised four Padma Vibhushan, 14 Padma Bhushan and 94 Padma Shri recipients.
The Padma awards, which were announced on the eve of Republic Day, include 21 women and 11 persons from the category of foreigners, NRI, PIO, OCI, and one transgender person.
The government had received nearly 50,000 nominations for this year's Padma awards.
