Highlights of Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2019

We had just gotten over the glamour and the glitz splashed by Lakme Fashion Week and now another five days full of fashion inspiration, creative minds, innovations and hard work is taking over Delhi. Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week (LMIFW) Autumn Winter 2019 is hitting the ramp of the national capital at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The line-up of designers is impressive.

On one hand, designer Rahul Mishra celebrates his 10 years in fashion where his creations featured layered ensembles with geometrical prints, asymmetrical cuts on a variety of fabrics. There is Suneet Varma revisiting the great, traditional yet everlasting techniques and crafts that makes Indian embroideries a celebration worldwide. The large abstract shaped mirrors with multicoloured thread embroidery is a modern and fresh take for the contemporary bride.

Dark shades of midnight blue and burgundy with silver accents in glamorous lehengas with off-shoulder blouses and short jackets, draped skirts worn with capes and ruffled organza shirts with high waisted palazzo pants make this collection romantic, feminine and flirtatious.

Huemn by Pranav Misra, Shyma Shetty and Prashant Verma was inspired by their travels in Kashmir. It is a tribute to the strength of individuals and the impact that they can make, if they choose to. The entire line is a play of contrasts and a reflection of society today and its need to confine you to pre-defined boxes that you don’t need to fit into. The mood of the collection is an urge to look within as creative people and choose mindfully how to harness that inventive instinct.
The collection also draws a strong reference from the iconic sneaker culture of the Nineties and finds its way into the shape and cuts of garments.

Designer Nikita Mhaisalkar, inspired by the world of poetry, named her collection Rumi and chose to take the audience through the journey of forgotten hills, autumn leaves, winter winds and more. Terra browns, Moss green, Pine grey, Beet root, Old rose and Pewter remain the colours for the collection.

Designer Pooja Shroff’s A/W’19 collection is inspired by a line of handmade Indonesian batiks that she acquired during her travels to Jakarta. She has named it Resist Aur Dye. The name takes after the process of making Batik. It includes a few couture statement styles but majority of the collection comprises prêt pieces with colours black, gold, greys, dominating.

Designer Manoviraj Khosla presented a kaleidoscopic view of nature. Kaleidoscopia – An amalgamation of the spirit of the garden — from flowers to butterflies — the collection is a celebration of colour, prints and embroidery. Metallic foil prints along with sublimation and embroidery done on both jackets and shoes give the collection a fun, young and dynamic feel. From velvet jackets and leather Perfectos — the collection redefines rockstar chic.

Designer Dhruv Vaish presents his A/W 2019 collection Meld, which is inspired by Modern Industrial Art. Taking the masculine sensibilities of the art, the collection is an amalgamation of geometric prints, textures and slick solids in very easy going yet refined silhouettes. In keeping with the gleam of metal, an experimental fabric for men—satin made its debut in his collection alongside more conventional choices of cottons and wool.
