See conspiracy behind killing of Vivekananda Reddy

YSR Congress Party leader and former Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao and city unit president Malla Vijaya Prasad on Saturday sought the intervention of Election Commission of India over attempts to politicise the killing of former Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and sought increase in security for party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Reiterating the party’s allegation that the Telugu Desam Party was involved in the murder, they told reporters that they would approach the EC and the Governor to upgrade the security for Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy following the murder of his uncle and attempt to kill him with a knife at Visakhapatnam Airport on October 25 last year. Mr. Rao said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should remember that he was heading a caretaker government and the people were yearning for a change. He alleged that as Vivekananda Reddy was looking after Kadapa affairs of the YSRCP, he was eliminated with an eye on elections and termed the forming of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the government as farce.

Strongly condemning the statement of Mr. Naidu after the murder, he said they had respect on the Andhra Pradesh Police but the entire department was working under pressure from TDP. He said EC and Governor would be approached by them to order a CBI probe after the State government rejected their request.

Mr. Vijaya Prasad, a former MLA, said they were suspecting the involvement of TDP in the killing, and only a CBI probe would bring the real culprits to book.
