Another session of training will be held from April 1 to 3

The first level of training for government employees, set to function as presiding officers (POs) and assistant presiding officers (APOs) in the upcoming parliamentary polls, will begin from Sunday (March 17).

The training will be for two days and will be followed by another session from April 1 to 3, which will be intensive, District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore said on Saturday.

There will be 425 training classes for POs and APOs, with each class consisting of not more than 25 officers. Application forms are being distributed for postal ballots along with the election deployment orders, which need to be filled and submitted, Mr. Dana Kishore said.

The district needs 20,000 employees for polls, and 5,000 more to be kept in reserve, he said.

At a review meeting on Saturday, he instructed the AROs to conduct a meeting with local political representatives about additional polling stations, shifting of polling stations and providing facilities and infrastructure at the polling stations.

Voters may check for their names in the electoral rolls, by sending an SMS to the mobile number 9223166166, he informed.

They will have to type TS<SPACE> VOTE <SPACE> VOTER ID NO in order to find out if they exist as voter.

He urged the political parties to apply for permissions through e-Suvidha app, and the voters to use C-VIGIL app to upload pictures or two-minute video clips of violations of the model code of conduct, to bring it to the notice of the Election Commission.
