Foresters, students clean up botanical garden

As many as 142 people, including foresters, students from Forest College and Research Institute, cyclists as well as general visitors, participated in a clean-up programme at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Botanical Garden and Pala Pitta Cycling Park at Kothaguda reserve forest here on Saturday.

Three-hour operation

The clean-up programme organised by the Telangana State Forest Development Corporation, began at 6.30 a.m. and continued for three hours, a statement from the Forest department said.

Under the guidance of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P. Raghuveer, the enthusiastic participants collected plastic waste from the pathways, cycling tracks and other parts of the park.

Garbage collection

A total of 1,200 to 1,500 kilograms of garbage was collected and bagged up to be handed over to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the statement said.
