BHOPAL: A sort of tug-of-war is seen in the selection of candidates for Lok Sabha elections in the state Congress. An interesting development took place in Satna Lok Sabha constituency where, according to sources, the uncle is working to ensure that the nephew is denied ticket. Ex- deputy speaker of state assembly, Rajendra Singh has almost ensured that his nephew and ex-leader of opposition Ajay Singh is denied ticket from Satna Lok Sabha seat.
Ajay Singh has been directed by the party high command to contest elections from Sidhi seat. Singh was touring Satna Lok Sabha constituency for two months. He has reached Sidhi and has started working for his elections from Saturday. Singh lost assembly elections from Churhat, under Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency.
Singh was keen on contesting Lok Sabha elections from Satna this time but it is almost sure that he would not get ticket from this seat. Earlier, Singh had sought ticket from Sidhi Lok Sabha seat in 2014 but the party gave him ticket from Satna seat. It is under consideration to give ticket to Rajendra Singh from Satna. Meanwhile, Ajay Singh maintains that he was ready to contest from any constituency. He had claimed to get ticket from Sidhi last time but the party decided to give him ticket from Satna. Singh said it was up to the party to give ticket to him from any seat.
Kamal Nath may make more changes
Chief Minister Kamal Nath may make changes in allocation of Lok Sabha tickets. Ex-MP Rameshwar Neekhra, who is preparing to contest from Hoshangabad, may be given ticket from Jabalpur. MP Jyotiraditya Scindia may get ticket from Gwalior. Former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, who is keen on contesting from Rajgarh seat, may be fielded from either Bhopal or Indore Lok Sabha seat.
