A high-level team of union health department would inspect Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi, Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) in Jamshedpur for setting up Skills Centre.

A senior state health department official on Saturday said, for this ambitious Skills Centre, the team would inspect all three medical colleges of the state from March 26 to 29. Till date Skill Centre is only at selected medical colleges in the country which enhances treatment skills of the interns, duty doctors, and residents.

The centre will teach skills to doctors needed in the treatment of patients in the emergency department. Skills Centre project is of Rs 1.30 crores.

The team would assess whether the medical college has required infrastructure, space, lecturers’ theatre and faculty strength for Skill Centre or not.

The central government had sought the name of medical college from the Jharkhand government for setting up a Skill Centre.

State health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni sent names of all the three medical colleges of the state.

State health department senior official said Central government team would inspect RIMS Ranchi on March 26-27, PMCH Dhanbad on March 27- 28 and MGMMCH Jamshedpur on March 28-29.

The central government team has already inspected RIMS. This will be the second round of inspection.

PMCH principal Dr. Shailendra Kumar on Saturday said he had received mail of central government regarding inspection of the institution (PMCH) for ambitious Skills Centre.

“If the central team is satisfied with the available infrastructure, the Skills Centre would become a reality in the state”, he said.
