Taking an aggressive stance, the CPI(M) has decided to contest the Dindori Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra and Ujiarpur in Bihar.
The party had been in talks with the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra and the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar, but both the parties have refused to concede space for the CPI(M).
The Nashik-Mumbai long march by farmers in February 2018 started in Dindori. Accusing the Union government of not fulfilling the promises made to farmers, the All India Kisan Sabha organised the march of 40,000 farmers.
Even in 2014, the CPI(M) got over 15% of the votes and stood in third position in the constituency.
In Ujairpur, the party was in fourth position with 6% votes.
The CPI(M) had long been in talks with the NCP but the party has finally refused to concede the seat. Though, according to top sources, the talks have not been closed, there is a possibility of a tactical understanding here.
No discussions
In Bihar, the RJD did not even have discussions with the CPI(M) before sealing the seat-sharing formula with the Congress and other allies.
In both the seats, the candidates will be decided after the final stand of the NCP and the RJD becomes clear.
