Bike-borne duo snatch chain from woman, 43
TNN | Mar 17, 2019, 04:36 ISTDharmapuri: Two motorcycle-borne unidentified men snatched a gold chain weighing 18 sovereigns from a 43-year-old woman here on Friday evening.
According to the Dharmapuri town police, the incident took place minutes after Palaniammal, along with her husband V Ganesah, 50, of Melendapatty village, releasing her gold chain that she had pledged to a nationalized bank in the town.
“They had pledged the chain a year ago. On Friday evening, they settled the loan amount and released the chain,” said a police officer.
As they came out of the bank with the chain, two motorcycle-borne men approached them and told that some currency notes were found on road. “When the couple turned to collect the currency notes, the duo suddenly grabbed the hand bag containing the chain and Rs 40,000 cash from Palaniammal and sped away,” the officer said.
The couple lodged a complaint with the Dharmapuri town police, who registered a case and launched a probe into the incident.
