Man who rammed bike into cop booked
TNN | Mar 16, 2019, 07:49 ISTLudhiana: A day after a cop fractured his leg as a man rammed his motorcycle into him when the former was chasing drug peddlers, the Moti Nagar police have booked the accused who hit the head constable under charges of deterring a public servant from discharge of his duty.
Head constable Jaswinder Singh (45) was hit by Sajan of Dholewal, a drug peddler.
The head constable said he had a laid a trap for a drug peddler after fixing a deal of Rs 7500 for 3g of heroin with one Sajan of Dholewal. He was waiting for him near a private hospital on Chandigarh road.
The head constable said they arrested drug peddler Sajan after which they chased another peddler on a motorcycle. He said the suspected drug peddler then hit him with his motorcycle and he suffered injury in his left leg. Jaswinder said he then caught the other person as well. He added that later they handed the duo to the SHO. The cop claimed that he came to know that they duo were let off on the assurance of prominent persons.
Head constable said that when the suspect peddler came with drugs he tried to nab him however the accused hit him with his motorcycle and he suffered injury in his left leg.
Jaswinder Singh said that with injured leg he took accused to police station. Meanwhile he was taken to hospital. Later he came to know that the accused has been allowed to go by SHO.
Assistant commissioner of police (ACP Industrial Area A) Harjinder Singh said, “We are investigating the matter. Statements of both head constable and SHO will be verified.”
Meanwhile, Sajan has been booked under sections of 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 181(False statement on oath or affirmation to public servant or person authorised to administer an oath or affirmation), 333 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty of IPC.
