SAHARANPUR: Around 15-20 passengers in a Dehradun bound train were robbed of their belongings in Balia Kheri on Saturday, according to Railway authorities.

The crime was allegedly committed by four masked men, armed with deadly weapons. The robbers even stabbed one of the passengers.

The incident allegedly took place when the train was passing from a jungle area, a few kilometres ahead of Saharanpur at around 2am. The robbers pulled the chain and stopped the train.

Soon after, they allegedly looted passengers of at least three coaches for 53 minutes while stabbing one of them before the loco-pilot alerted the RPF and the GRP Saharanpur.

Apparently, the Saharanpur police rushed to the site but by then the train had already left for Roorkee.

GRP then reached Roorkee and recorded the statements of the victims. An FIR has been registered.
