GUWAHATI: Shree Shyam Satsang Mandal will celebrate the golden jubilee of Shree Shyam Jayanti Mahostav (fagun utsav) of Lord Krishna for three days, starting from March 16. The celebrations will be held at Sadhana Mandir near Railway Gate No 4 at Fancy Bazar here in the city.


The organizers - Ramavtar Sharma, Harigopal Agrawal, Binay Kumar Kasera, Vicky Agarwal and Dipak Bidasaria - said that the opening ceremony will be held at the 'utsav stal' at 10.30am on Saturday. It will be followed by recital of Shree Shyam Akand Jyoti from 2.30pm, after which there will be a live ballet performance by renowned artist, Shiv Kumar Jalan from Kolkata.


The celebrations on Sunday will start at 8am with pujan and chanting of vedic mantra. The afternoon programme will start from 2.30pm with arti and kirtan. In the evening, there will be bhajan and ballet by Devendra Bengani and performers from Kolkata.


On Monday, which will be the last day of the celebrations, the programme will begin with 'Mahaarti', the lighting of the eternal fire, at 5am. It will followed by bhajan by various local artistes and distribution of 'maha prasadam' and 'Amrit Bhandara' from 12.30pm. The grand procession of Lord Krishna will start at 5pm, which will have 'jhankis' with attractive glimpse of people dressed up as various incarnations of God. The procession will start from MS Road, the organizers said.
