Gujarat Congress website hacked

The past has once again come to haunt Patidar leader Hardik Patel, and this time it has popped up in the form of images on the Gujarat Congress website which has been hacked by some intruders.
As elections near, the dirty picture of Indian politics has again come to the fore with still images captured from several sleazy tapes, being posted on the official website of Congress, a party which he recently joined.
These tapes allegedly show Patel with a girl in a hotel room.
As many as five such video tapes allegedly featuring the Patel Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader had gone viral on social media during 2017 Gujarat state elections. Patel has on numerous occasions tried to distance himself from the controversy by saying that the tapes were fake and were an attempt to tarnish his image and reputation by some political leaders.
The Gujarat Congress website was taken down on Friday after the incident.
In 2017 Gujarat elections, Patel did not join the Congress but had lent support to the party in his fight against the ruling BJP government in the state. The Patidar leader, who turned 25 last year, is now eligible to contest the elections. Congress is weighing the option of fielding Patel from a Saurashtra seat, possibly from Jamnagar constituency, in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Patel, who joined Congress earlier this week in the presence of Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, has been spearheading his community’s demand for quota reservation in government jobs and colleges. Patel, who has been raising issues of jobs and farm distress, had last year sat on an indefinite hunger strike to press for his demands for reservation.
He, however, called off the strike after a few days even as the state government refused to give in to any of his demands.
