Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that surgical strikes are not the Lok Sabha elections 2019 issue.

“Surgical strikes are not the poll issue. What army has done should never be linked with elections. I accept that images of martyrs should not be used on political posters and if someone is doing it, we must stop him,” said Jaitley at India TV’s mega conclave on terrorism Vande Mataram.

Here are important excerpts from Arun Jaitley’s speech:

  • Our government believes in destroying terrorism at the point of origin: Jaitley
  • We will also try that Baluchistan shall be free from terrorism: Jaitley
  • Pakistan is trying to create nuclear bluff-if you will attack us, we will respond and there will be nuclear war: Jaitley
  • Indian Army kept itself away from politics: Jaitley
  • We have the capability to take strong political decision: Jaitley
