MANDYA: A woman and a biker were killed in a serial accident set off by a reckless car driver on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway in Kodishettipura village of Mandya's Srirangapatna taluk on Friday.

Police said a speeding car rammed a bike ridden by Santhosh, 22, from Gadag. The out-of-control bike, in turn, knocked down Mounashree, 20, from Kodishettipur, who was waiting for a bus near the highway.

In the impact of the accident, Santhosh died on the spot and Mounashree suffered grievous injuries. She was rushed to a Mysuru hospital where she was declared dead. The four occupants of the car also received injuries and have been admitted to a hospital.

Villagers urged the district authorities to take measures to prevent accidents, which pose a risk to those living along the highway.
