Indore: Two persons from a tribal area were arrested by city police for their involvement in theft cases in Kanadiya area on Friday. The accused confessed to have committed a dozen thefts in the area after which the police recovered valuables worth around Rs 5.5 lakh from them. They are being questioned about the whereabouts of other accomplices.
Following rising theft incidents in Kanadiya area, senior officials had given instructions to police to trace the persons involved in such crimes after which a team was formed. The team received a tip-off that a gang from Bagh and Tanda (tribal area in Dhar district) were active in Kanadiya area and had committed thefts for a few months. The cops arrested accused Madan Bhilala of Tanda from Mangaliya area of the city.
In sustained questioning, Madan named one of his accomplices Idu alias Ramesh Dabur of Tanda after which he was also arrested from near Bengali Square. They allegedly confessed to have committed many thefts in the city. After that, the police recovered gold and silver ornaments, gas cylinders and other goods worth around Rs 5.5 lakh from them.
Kanadiya police station in-charge Anil Singh Rathore said the accused had committed theft at a locked house in Sanchar Nagar in the last week of August 2018. The family members had gone to Shirdi when the accused entered the house and stole gold, silver ornaments, two mobile phones etc from there.
They also targeted a house in Jhalaria area on 12 February 2019 when the family members had gone to attend a function in Depalpur. Accused committed another crime at Bhuri Tekri area in the last week of May 2018. The accused had stolen two gas cylinders and other goods which police have recovered. Police said the accused also committed theft at the farmhouse of Dr Bandi on Kanadiya Road, two houses in Vaibhav Nagar, Sampat Hills and other places.
During questioning, it was revealed that the accused had conducted a recce of the area and later committed thefts. ASI Nitin Bhalerao, constable Vinod Yadav, Jishan Ahmad and Pradeep Patel were in crucial role while nabbing the accused.
