Not included in the state opposition’s Grand Alliance, the Left Front on Friday decided to contest from five Lok Sabha seats in these elections.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the CPI, CPM, CPI(ML) and MCC here at the state headquarters of CPI(ML).

“It was decided that in order to defeat the BJP, all Left parties would work together. Different constituents would contest from different seats. In seats where the Left Front isn’t fielding candidates, we’ll work to defeat the BJP,” a press communiqué said following the decision.

As per the joint decision, the CPM would field its candidate in Rajmahal; the CPI in Hazaribag; the CPI (ML) Koderma and Palamu; and the MCC would field a candidate in Dhanbad.
