As many as 42 sarpanches elected as independents and from different political affiliations joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the presence of Minister V. Prasanth Reddy and MP K. Kavitha at Velpur in Balkonda constituency on Saturday. The two leaders invited them into the party by draping party scarves.
The sarpanches said that they joined the party as they were attracted to the development and welfare programmes being implemented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. They also called Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao a great visionary leader.
Expressing thanks for ensuring the victory to the TRS in Assembly elections Ms. Kavitha said that coordination among leaders was very important for the electoral prospects of the party. She advised the sarpanches to work for the development of villages and be aware of their responsibilities.
Appealing to them to bring a large number of people to the party public meeting to be addressed by the TRS chief at GG College ground here on March 19, she said that leaders should take the responsibility to avoid any inconvenience to them. She wanted them to work hard to see to it that the party would get more majority in Lok Sabha elections than that of Assembly elections.
She also called upon the party activists to work for the victory of M. Chandrasekhar Goud, candidate in the MLC elections backed by TRS. Earlier in the morning she met the party cadres at MLA A. Jeevan Reddy home at Armoor.
