KOLKATA: Two persons, including a BJP worker, were arrested in West Bengal on Saturday for allegedly posting obscene messages on social media about Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha candidate Nusrat Jahan, police said.

Jahan, a popular Bengali actress, will contest the upcoming polls from Basirhat constituency.

Subhendu Chakraborty, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) IT cell in Basirhat area, has been arrested from North 24 Parganas district's Baduria area after police received a complaint that he shared obscene pictures and text messages about Jahan on social media.

"We received specific complaint against him for posting and forwarding obscene messages about a female public figure here. We have arrested him and seized his phone. He has been produced before the court," a police officer said.

Meanwhile, another youth was arrested on similar charges from the district's Gaighata area.
