There now seems to be a question mark on the existence of the TTD Trust Board.
The uncertainty has arisen with the ruling TDP awarding party tickets to several of the member-trustees on the board, including its chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav, to contest the elections. While Mr. Sudhkar Yadhav has been given the ticket to contest from the Mydukuru (Kadapa) Assembly constituency, noted industrialist Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is given the nod to seek election from the Narsaraopet Parliamentary constituency in Guntur district.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has also finalised the names of member-trustees B.K. Parthasaradhi (Penugonda) and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao (Vijayawada Central).
What has given room to speculation now is the resignation of Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who had contested on TDP ticket in Telangana last year. Though the trusteeship does not tantamount to holding any office of profit, he had opted out to avoid any controversy ahead of filing his nomination.
He also declined to accept the post after winning the election. In another instance, former TTD chairman K. Bapiraju, who unsuccessfully contested the 2014 elections on Congress ticket, was shown the door by a special government order as he refused to put in his papers even a couple of months after his defeat.
Against this backdrop, it remains to been seen as to which option the contesting member-trustees will prefer – the example set by Mr. Veeraiah or Mr. Bapiraju (should their plans go awry)!
