AMARAVATI: Turning down the demand for a CBI probe into former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has said that the opposition leader YS Jagan is seeking CBI investigation only to shield the actual culprits. The CM said that state police would continue the investigation and catch the culprits. He said that no one would escape from the crime in spite of their attempts.
He said that forensic evidence at the murder spot was deliberately destroyed by the family members who reached the scene of offence prior to the police. Speaking to media here on Friday, the chief minister said that family members of Viveka, including the former MP Avinash Reddy, had tried to mislead everyone by declaring that Viveka’s was a natural death.
He raised suspicion about the role of some of the family members of Viveka behind the issue as the blood stains in the bathroom and bedroom were cleaned to destroy the evidence. “They are trying to cover up their misdeeds and criminal acts by throwing mud on Lokesh, minister Adinarayana Reddy and me. I demand that the family members of Jagan should first clear the mystery behind hiding the facts about the gruesome murder of Vivekananda Reddy,” he asked. He asked them as to why they could not tell on the spot that it was murder even after seeing the injuries. He said that they should answer as to why they tried to hush up such a serious crime and to protect whom
He wondered that none of the family members could distinguish the difference between the murder and heart-attack. He asked why they continue to tell everyone including the police that Viveka died of heart attack even after seeing the serious injuries on his body. He said the body of the victim was deliberately moved from bathroom to bedroom to destroy the evidence. He said that one would try to shield the culprits by destroying the evidence only when the insiders were involved in the crime.
The chief minister said that facts would come to light only when all the family members were grilled thoroughly. He said that they have instructed the police to thoroughly go into the issue. He said that the family members changed the tunes only after the body was shifted to hospital where the doctors found serious injuries on the body. “The people with criminal mind would always commit gruesome crimes and throw the blame on the others,” said without taking Jagan’s name. The CM questioned Jaganmohan Reddy and his family members as to why they could not lodge a complaint that Viveka was murdered even after seeing the complaint of his PA Krishna Reddy.
The CM said that police in AP were not his own but of the people. He said that saying that they have not trust on the police was not proper.
