Announcing the alliance at a press conference in Lucknow on Friday with BSP chief, Kalyan said, "We would like to see Mayawati as the prime minister of country. This is our wish and ardent desire...We will make sure...that our wishes get fulfilled in the days to come." In response, Mayawati smiled and said, "I want Pawan Kalyan to become Andhra Pradesh chief minister."
Kalyan is younger brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi. BSP will contest three Lok Sabha seats and 21 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and is likely to field candidates from three to four seats in Telangana.

Till now, Mayawati has stitched alliances in seven states. Informed sources in Samajwadi Party, with whom BSP is contesting elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh, said that the two parties were likely to align in Maharashtra as well.
While a formal announcement is expected by the end of this week, sources indicated that SP would contest four seats while BSP would field its candidates on all the remaining seats.
