Ludhiana: The police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers, with the arrest of four of its members.

Gang kingpin Maninder Singh, 24, of New Shimlapuri, his associates Kamaljeet Singh, 25, also of New Shimlapuri, Rahul, 31, of Jalandhar, and Prateek, 19, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, were arrested from Thakur Colony near Daad village on a tip-off. Their fourth aide, Gurinder Singh of New Shimlapuri, however, gave police the slip. Armed with a pistol and sharp-edged weapons, the gang struck in isolated parts of Ludhiana. Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-II) Jaskiranjit Singh said, “Maninder and Rahul, who are facing trials in snatching cases, had met in Ludhiana Central Jail. They formed the gang after coming out on bail three months ago.”
