Rescued cow produced in Ranchi court, sent to gaushala

ranchi Updated: Mar 16, 2019 10:38 ISTIn a curious turn of events, a cow rescued by people and police was produced in a local court here on Friday from where it was sent to gaushala. Police said the cow was rescued on Wednesday and alleged smuggler was sent to jail on Thursday after production in the court on charges of taking the cow for slaughter.
“We produced the rescued cow in the court of the first class judicial magistrate Satybhama Kumari today from where it was sent to local gaushala. We had rescued the cow when a Bihar-based man Mukhtar Ansari was taking the cow with him and people had caught him near raod no-1 Shankosai under Olidih PS on March 13. We arrested him after investigation on Thursday and produced in the court from where he was sent to jail yesterday,” said Chandrasekhar Kumar, officer in charge, Olidih police station.
City superintendent of police (city SP) Prabhat Kumar told the media today that local people had complained that a man was taking a cow for slaughter on March 13.
“During investigation, it was found that the cow was taken for slaughter and Ansari’s acts and words were suspicious and contradictory. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged and he was arrested and sent to jail. Today the rescued cow has been sent to gaushala as per court’s order,” said Prabhat Kumar.
