New Delhi: Union Finance Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday took on the Opposition for harping on fake issues forgetting “Satyamev Jayate.” In a series of tweets and a Facebook post on part 6 of Agenda 9 on “a campaign of fake issues never works,” he said: “Overconfidence of opposition leaders undermining electorates’ wisdom will not go unpunished in the 2019 elections.”

“Fake issues raised in Rafale, Balakot, Judge Loya’s death, Bank loan waiver, JNU issues, EVM, GST, demonetisation or Nirav Modi & Mallya, or be it special status for Andhra Pradesh, or the issues of economy, every time fakery & manufactured issues of opposition fell apart,” Jaitley said in a tweet.

In another tweet he said: “If fake issues are taken out of Rahul Gandhi’s speech, nothing will perhaps be left.” He said Rahul has led not only his party but the entire Opposition to rely on fake and manufactured issues. He ridiculed the Opposition creating an echo effect with fake issues and then believe their falsehood to be true. Jaitley said it is a fair tribute to PM Modi’s government that the Opposition, after five years, has no real issue against the government. “The government is contesting on a pro-incumbency platform built on its performance & Opposition is in a state of panic,” he tweeted.

He stressed, “The NDA Govt is led by a leader with whom the comfort level of the voter is high.” Jaitley did not even spare the pollsters claiming a neck-and-neck fight and a possible ouster of Modi in this election. “The real strength of Indian democracy is the inherent wisdom of the voters. They punish non-performers and they vote back those who deliver. Pollsters, political pandits and commentators usually go wrong,” he underlined.
