Congress stakes claim to form govt in Goa

The Congress party in Goa has once again stakes claim to form a govt in the state. Congress has urged governor Mridula Sinha to dismiss Manohar Parrikar-led coalition government in Goa. Congress said that BJP has become a minority in the state after the demise of Mapusa BJP MLA Francis D’Souza. Right now, Congress has 14 MLAs whereas BJP has 13 MLAs. However, BJP has support of 9 MLAs including 3 independent MLAs. Opposition leader Chandrakant Kavlekar said, "We are staking our claim to form the state government and demand that we be called to form the government forthwith by dismissing the incumbent BJP led government".
