Congress has only ruined the country, says UP minister
Abhinav Malhotra | tnn | Mar 17, 2019, 04:28 ISTKanpur: Minister of state for flood control and agriculture Swati Singh said that it was not the Congress but the BJP government, led by PM Narendra Modi, which created awareness among the people about importance of using toilets instead of attending nature's call in open.
She alleged that Congress did nothing but only ruined the country in its earlier regimes.
Swati Singh while talking to mediapersons at cabinet minister Brijesh Pathak's house in Unnao on Saturday said, "It seems the Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has a weak memory. I will have to remind her that had the Congress done anything for the common people of the country, PM Narendra Modi would not have started the movement for making villages defecation free and to make people aware about benefits of using toilets". Not only toilets, the PM is also providing a house to each family, she added.
She told reporters that the party has appointed her incharge of Unnao for the Lok Sabha elections.
She met the sitting party MP Sakshi Maharaj and also held meeting with the party workers, she said. Making a scathing attack on BSP supremo Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, who have formed alliance for the Lok Sabha polls, Swati Singh said, "First, two brothers (Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav) came together in 2017 for UP assembly polls and now 'bua' (Mayawati) and 'bhatija' (Akhilesh Yadav) have joined hands for the Lok Sabha elections. But, their split is imminent in near future".
BJP which is contesting election on the agenda of development will win." Criticising Congress president Rahul Gandhi, she said that she did not want to comment much on him and added people should not take him seriously.
