“The Galaxy A2 core is expected to be Samsung’s upcoming entry-level offering”

After refreshing its flagship, budget, and mid-range lineup, Samsung seems to be gearing to launch its entry-level offering the Galaxy A2 Core shortly. A press shot of the handset have surfaced, thanks to the popular tipster @evleaks, and it looks mostly like the last year’s Galaxy J2 Core — the brand’s first Android Go smartphone. The leaked A2 Core is also expected to be Android Go edition, which means it’ll boot a watered down version of either Android Oreo (or Pie) and offer a suite of compatible apps.

As per the leak, the Galaxy A2 Core will come with an ‘SM-A260’ codename. The handset seems to come with a 16:9 aspect ratio display, in contrast to the more modern 18:9 or 19:9 aspect ratio screens. The back of the phone flaunts a single rear camera with LED flash at the top-right corner with loudspeaker grill just below. Lastly, the handset will most likely come in black and blue colour options.

The specifications of the phone remains scarce at the moment, but as reported by FoneArena, a Geekbench listing claims that it could feature Exynos 7870 SoC paired with 1GB RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition). The other hardware of the Galaxy A2 Core is also expected to be pretty basic.

Samsung is yet to reveal if and when it’s planning to launch the device. However, since the image shows March 22nd date, the Galaxy A2 Core could see the light of the day as early as next week. The handset will, of course, compete with the Xiaomi Redmi Go that is expected to launch in India next week.
