A patrolling team of the Maharashtra Security Force found an unidentified body of a woman on Mahape-Shilphata Road on Thursday evening. The woman is suspected to be aged between 35 and 40.
Senior police inspector Nitin Gite from Rabale MIDC police station said, “There are injury marks on her neck sustained from strangulation, and bruises on her hands sustained while resisting the attacker. The post-mortem report has revealed that strangulation was the cause of death.”
The woman was wearing a grey salwar and a beige kurta. A tattoo of a snake and a trident was found on her right hand. Mr. Gite said, “From her attire, she appears to be a daily wager. The body was found while checking a pipeline running along the road. A constable of a nearby chowky was informed about the incident and he alerted us. The doctor said the woman seems to have been killed on Monday night. We are checking if a missing person’s complaint has been lodged at nearby police stations.”
The police still have not been able to verify the identity of a woman aged between 30 and 35, whose body was found in a nullah on Thane-Belapur Road in April last year.
The Rabale MIDC police had announced a reward to anyone providing information about the woman.
