BHUBANESWAR: Day after Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi resigned from BJD, another ruling party MLA from Nilagiri Sukanta Kumar Nayak also dumped the BJD.
Nayak alleged conspiracy against him by some leaders indicating recent induction of ex-BJP leader Sushamarani Biswal into the BJD, who had unsuccessfully fought the 2014 assembly election against Nayak from Nilgiri.
“To add to my disadvantages, the mental torture meted out to me by the district BJD president becomes unbearable day by day. This hurts me a lot for which I am tendering resignation from the primary membership, which may kindly be accepted,” said outgoing MLA.
Biswal, who was the vice president of BJP’s Mahila Morcha, joined the ruling dispensation camp on March 11 here in presence of BJD president and chief minister. As BJD looking for more potential women candidates; Biswal is likely to be fielded from Nilgiri assembly segment in Balasore district.
Senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra said Nayak's decision to quit the party will have no impact on party's organization in Balasore district.
