Here comes the bride... but after her exam!

PIC: RAHUL DESHMUKH
A 23-year-old computer engineering student was the cynosure of all eyes when she turned up at the Sinhgad College exam centre at Wadgaon on Thursday afternoon, decked up as a traditional Marathi bride . Hingne resident Pallavi Ghayal had just gotten engaged at the Madhuban Lawns marriage hall in Loni Kalbhor the same morning, when she rushed over to write her last paper of the examination, for the cloud computing subject, between 2 pm and 3 pm. In bright, customary nauvari (nine-yard) sari, with gold bridal jewellery and flowers in her hair, Pallavi was all eyes for her question paper for the ensuing one hour, till she had to rush back to finish her haldi ceremony with 26-year-old groom Vishal Bharekar, a Warje-Malwadi resident and civil engineer himself. The family explained that all nuptial ceremonies had already been slated for March 14, when unfortunately, the exams were rescheduled and coincided with the same day. Both sides, however, were supportive of Pallavi’s decision to make sure she didn’t have to flunk one subject. And after she finished the test with a flourish, the happy — and clearly studious — couple got married on Thursday night (below, R).
