District administration would request political parties to depute women election agent and polling agent at booths.

The East Singhbhum district administration will have Pink polling booth in Jamshedpur where only women staff would conduct whole polling affairs. Five such booths have been identified in the town.

All polling staff including presiding officer and three polling officers at five Pink booths would be women. These booths would be in Jamsedhpur.

East Singhbhum deputy commission Amit Kumar said that the step has been taken to promote women empowerment and improve their ability. The administration would ensure that only women security personnel to be deployed at these booths. The district has adequate number of women government employees to run pink booths smoothly, the DC said.

“We will request all political parties and candidates of the upcoming parliamentary elections for deputing women election and polling agents at pink booths. We want to motivate maximum number of women for casting votes. Pink booths will be a lank mark in increasing women polling”, the DC said.

The district administration has also inaugurated an election selfie corner at collectorate in Jamshedpur on Thursday. The DC said that local residents would feel proud to get selfie at the said corner and they would promote others to caste vote for making Indian democratic system stronger, he added.

The administration will also have model polling booths in the district. Five to six model polling booths would be there in each of 11 blocks in East Singhbhum. Block development officials (BDO) have been directed to identify such polling booths and ensure best facilities for voters over there.

Transportation facility upto limited area for needy voters, ramps and wheel chairs for physically disable voters, electricity, toilet, water and other facilities would be there at each of model polling booths.

Altogether 16,70,361 voters of East Singhbhum including 8,55,831 male and 8,14,481 female as well as 59 transgender would caste vote at 1885 polling booth in the upcoming general election.
