Suspense over which party former minister Konathala Ramakrishna will join continues with the senior leader keeping his options open. Though he is widely expected to join the Telugu Desam Party, YSRCP leaders are also believed to be in touch with him.
The senior leader held a meeting with his supporters at Anakapalle on Thursday on ascertaining their views whether to contest as MP or MLA.
They overwhelmingly supported his candidature from the Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency.
‘Development agenda’
“The rationale behind contesting to Lok Sabha is to continue the work done these five years through Uttrandhra Charcha Vedika and press for the development of North Andhra and the fulfilment of promises made in the Bifurcation Act,” the former MP said.
He was firm on returning to active politics and contesting the forthcoming election.
Though the TDP did not announce its nominees, some names for the Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency are doing the rounds. Mr. Ramakrishna told The Hindu late in the evening that he would announce his decision by March 18.
