Royal Caribbean’s private island, which opens this May, is promising to be a destination both adults and children will enjoy.

Perfect Day at CocoCay, which is accessible only as a stop on Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships, is currently under construction and will unveil their new amenities, including the “tallest waterslide in North America” and the “Caribbean’s largest wave pool,” on May 4.

During their stop at the island, guests will have the opportunity to ride in a helium ballon 450 feet in the air and overlook the Bahamas, or ride a 1,600-square-foot zip line across the harbor.

At the on-island Thrill Waterpark, travelers can take a ride down the slides in Daredevil’s Tower, which includes two side-by-side drop slides called the Dueling Demons, another pair of slides called the Manta Racyers, a high-speed fully vertical drop called the Screeching Serpent, a coiling slide called the Green Mamba, and the 135-foot-tall Daredevil’s Peak, which is touted as the “tallest waterslide in North America.”

Thrill Waterpark also boasts six multi-rider slides in Splash Summit, which includes the Twister, a winding tube slide, the Slingshot, a zero-gravity slide for four, and the four-lane Splash Speedway racing slides.

“At Royal Caribbean, it’s not just about the hardware. It’s true that our new ships are technological and engineering marvels in their own right, and offer a multitude of unexpected experiences. Our destinations are an equally important part of the cruise vacation,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “We are introducing Perfect Day Island Collection to ensure that we deliver the most memorable vacation for adventure seekers on land, as well as on board our ships.”

Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas will make the inaugural voyage to Perfect Day at CocoCay on May 6, 2019. Other amenities on the island scheduled to roll out later this year include South Beach, the area for volleyball, beachside basketball, soccer, paddle boarding, glass-bottom kayaking and zorbing in an inflatable zorb ball, and Coco Beach Club, which is a more luxurious oasis with over water cabanas and private butlers.

Guests can drink and dine at Captain Jack’s, which features a rowboat bar with waterfront views and menu specialties like chicken wings and crispy steak fries. Skipper’s Grill features a menu of lunchtime favorites like burgers, sandwiches, tacos and salads.

“When you name a place Perfect Day, you’re making a big, bold claim, but it’s one we’re going to deliver on,” Bayley said. “Once Perfect Day at CocoCay is complete, it will be unlike anything else in the world.”
